Rules of Conduct

Every executives and employee must obey these rules of conduct regardless of their position. All shareholders including partner companies are entitled to these rules of conduct. The rules of conduct serve as a concrete standard of what Lotte’s staff members should and should not do and define their role performances in everyday life.

[Responsibility and Obligation for Executives and Staff Members]
3-1 Fair Personnel Management
  • 1)Motive the executives and staff members through fair evaluation and reward for individual ability and achievement.

  • 2)Treat everyone fairly when hiring and promoting regardless of their sex, education, age, religion, or hometown.

  • 3)Keep the principle of meritocracy and Jeok-jae-jeok-so (placing a right man in the right position) and rationally treat people in compliance with their effort and contribution.

  • 4)Follow the basics and principles. Recognize a mistake of best effort as an asset and promote rewards rather than punishment.

3-2 Improvement of Quality of Life
  • 1)Respect individual staff member’s characteristics and personality. Help them to make self-realization by offering diverse forms of hiring, training, and vacation.

  • 2)Establish the right environment for the executives and employees to work in proper ways.

  • 3)Dedicate to improve the quality of life (health, education, the winter of life, etc.) of our staffs as well as their families

  • 4)Create a pleasant working environment in which every staff can work healthily and safely.

3-3 Respiting Autonomy and Creativity

Cherish the process as well as the results and treat mistakes of best effort with affection and encouragement.

  • 1)Eradicate every authoritarian factor in working process and human relations so that every staff member can work with conviction.

  • 2)Actively encourage downward transfer of authority to promote responsibility of person in charge.

  • 3)Secure a good communication channel to prevent in-house conflict beforehand and encourage staff members to properly participate in management with their creativity.

3-4 Ability Development
  • 1)Actively support staff members to develop their abilities and foster human resources in the long-term perspective.

  • 2)Through continuous self-improvement, the executives and employees should put forth their efforts to lead the future with their knowledge.

3-5 Basic Ethics
  • 1)The executives and employees should have pride and high ethical philosophy to maintain one’s own dignity and company’s honor at all times.

  • 2)Never engage in breaches of the laws, company rules, social values, and conscience.

    • Never engage in unethical behaviors at work and everyday life that are subjected to social criticism.
    • Work in fair and proper ways abiding by company rules and relevant laws.
3-6 Challenge and Innovation

The executives and employees should work with challenging and innovative attitude and contribute to the development of company through cooperation and harmony.

3-7 Executives and Employee’s Social Responsibilities and Compliance with International Standard
  • 1)The management board including the CEO should be aware of every related information and carefully study and review them prior to decision-making. In addition, they should prevent and manage possible dangers that might arise in the course of their decision-making with a high sense of responsibility.

  • 2)The management board should set a good example in achieving transparency and legality in corporate management by actively abiding by international standard. They should put their best efforts into preparing for the fast-canging future.

  • 3)The executives should set a good example by behaving in compliance with international standard for corporate management and be able to take responsibility and explain for their decision-making.

3-8 Protection of Company Assets
  • 1)The assets of company are never used for personal use. Every staff should do their best during the working hours. The staff members should not engage in personal business in their working hours including stock investment, internet surfing regardless of work, personal phone calls, and so on. Each head of department makes sure these never happen.

  • 2)Never make a false or exaggerated report for the sake of specific individual or department. Never intentionally omit, hide, or monopolize important information.

  • 3)Company budget needs to be executed rationally and transparently in accordance with the set purpose.

    • Do not make personal expenses with company money.
    • Do not make false receipts to make cash.
    • Do not use company property (company car, etc.) for personal purpose.
    • Do not use company money for personal-purposed eat-out (company dinner).
    • Do not accumulate personal wealth by wasting company money.
  • 4)Do not illegally copy and use paid-software.

  • 5)Do not work at other institution or organization with purpose of making profit under any circumstances.
